An investigation into a fatal accident on Route 78 in Hunterdon County made for a slow commute on Wednesday afternoon.

New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Williams said one person was thrown from a Ford Econoline van around 11:40 a.m. on the westbound side in Clinton Township just past Cokesbury Road.

There were two minor injuries in the one-vehicle crash according to police, who have not disclosed the names of anyone involved.

The right lane of Route 78 was closed into the afternoon commute causing long backups starting at Route 287 in Bedminster.
