NFL Films President Steve Sabol has passed away just weeks sort of his 70th birthday after an 18- month battle with brain cancer.

It was Sabol’s father Ed who founded the company that changed the way America views pro football. In August of 2011, Steve got to induct his father into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in an emotional enshrinement.

Steve learned in March 2011 that he had an brain tumor that couldn’t be removed. Sabol is survived by his wife Penny, his son Casey, his parents Audrey and Ed, his sister Blair, and the millions of people who’s lives he touched through his great work on NFL Films. In my opinion, the Sabols are innovators and are the NFL's equivalent of legendary film director, Martin Scorsese.

Here is a recent interview with Steve Sabol did with USA Today discussing NFL Films and its rich history.
