Google’s Latest Autonomous Car [VIDEO]

I've imagined what the world would be like once all cars are autonomous, all communicating with each other through central grids that would operate like an overseeing ground traffic control system. For one thing, red lights would be a thing of the past, with cars able to whiz by each other at top speeds and only feet if not someday inches apart. One thing I never considered was a manufacturer would get so confident in the ability of autonomous vehicles to operate safely that they would remove the steering wheel and brake pedal completely. That's exactly what Google has done with their latest version. Are we to believe they're so confident we'd never have to override the system and take back control?
