Do You Have a Tattoo? Does it Affect Your Job?
Do you have a tattoo? If so, when did you get it and has it changed how you are viewed.
A new Rutgers-Eagleton poll shows 19 per cent of New Jerseyans have a tattoo with 37 per cent of the millennials born after 1980 having at least one.
About 75 per cent of people polled say they don’t think less of a person who has a tattoo but having said that, would you hire a person covered in body art? Would you give a shirt and tie job to a person whose neck is covered in ink? Does your opinion change if a person takes off their jacket to reveal totally covered arms? Do you think twice about getting a tattoo if you’re going for one of these jobs?
Should people with tattoos be treated differently? As much as it shouldn’t make a difference and we should all be able to express ourselves, there is a massive job shortage in New Jersey right now and you need to do everything you can to give yourself an edge. I find it odd that the people who campaigned hard in the sixties for freedom of expression are now the ones now looking down on the tattooed. What has your experience been like? Comment below.
