The indictment handed up Monday by a Monmouth County grand jury also charges 62-year-old Louis Cataldo of Point Pleasant with aggravated assault. It was made public on Tuesday.

Authorities haven't said what spurred the June 18 shooting at the Sand Bar restaurant in Brielle. Cataldo fled the scene and was arrested later that day at his home after an eight-hour stand-off.

Cataldo remains jailed on $3.5 million bail. He faces several decades in prison if he's convicted.

The female shooting victim underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to her back and injuries to her lungs and eyes.
