"Common sense should always be at the heart of justice." When you divorce the two, "you get ridiculous results and you're not defending the people anymore."

That's according to attorney and Save New Jersey blogger Matt Rooney, who called in to share his perspective on the case of a North Jersey priest accused of pointing a gun at an 8-year-old boy.

Kevin Carter of St. Margaret of Cortona Roman Catholic Church in Little Ferry was arrested this week with multiple charges against him after a woman in his congregation accused Carter of pointing a Civil War-era musket at a child. He could now face a maximum of five years in prison.

Rooney said the case is an example that "we're once again criminalizing noncriminals" in New Jersey, and I wholeheartedly agree.
