So many people in our listening area lost friends and family on Sept. 11, 2001. One of those who lost a close family member is a former classmate of mine from high school.

Kathy Cunningham is an amazing woman with boundless courage, energy and dedication. She's used all of those qualities and then some in the past fifteen years to honor her brother, Donald Robertson Jr. who perished that day.

To keep his memory alive, she and her group have helped raise thousands of dollars over the years to help build smart homes for America's Wounded Warriors. Each year they take part in the Towers to Tunnel run in NYC and raise money throughout the year to help others affected in some way by that fateful day. They are holding a fundraiser this Wednesday night from 6 to 10 p.m. in Lake Como at Bar Anticipation. I'm going to try and make it there and I hope you do too!

Tickets are $25 at the door and proceeds go to build smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans. For more information on the event, go to https://www.crowdrise.com/team-shamrock.
