A New Study on the Difference Between a Night Owl vs Early Riser

Ah here we go again. Research that determines your personality by whether you’re an early riser or a night owl. Okay. I’ll bite.

Turns out if you’re a night owl you’re a jerk. Night owls have a higher sense of self importance, feelings of entitlement, and are narcissistic. This according to The Journal of Personality and Individual Differences. Yeahhhh, I think I let my subscription run out on that one because I don’t remember ever hearing of it.

Turns out if you’re a morning person, you’re also a jerk. According to a similar study from the University of Madrid, early risers are rigid, not much fun, less adaptable with their body clocks and less wealthy.

There is some good news in all this. Night owls tend to be the more creative types and morning people tend to excel in academics. They excel in academics yet they end up less wealthy? Hmm, go figure.

What if you’re just somewhere in the middle? What if you don’t get up excessively early and don’t stay up excessively late? Then I bet you’re probably a sociopath who lives in their mom’s basement and suffers from hoarding and various forms of obsession compulsive disorder, think the government is spying on your through your television, have bad acne and terrible breath and will die alone and miserable.

These studies though were done with only college students, a group that tends to have bad sleep habits to begin with. In other words I wouldn’t lose a lot of sleep over it.
