MAPLE SHADE — A woman and her son were found stabbed to death in their apartment Thursday night, authorities said.

Sasikala Narra, 38, and her 6-year-old son, Anish Narra, were found by their husband and father 9 p.m. at their Hamilton Road home, Burlington County prosecutors said Friday morning.

The bodies were stabbed numerous times, investigators said, but other details were not available pending an autopsy Friday.

News of the grisly find spread fast internationally. Media in India, citing relatives of the victims, said the family had immigrated to the United States less than a decade ago.

Prosecutors on Friday said "at this point there is no indication that this is a hate crime connected to the fact that the victims are of Indian origin."

The deaths could be the second and third homicide victims this week in Burlington County. Late Tuesday night a man was found dead inside his car parked in front of a home on Kinsley Road in Pemberton Township.
