As gas prices continue to creep up, some New Jerseyans are worried we'll soon see $5 a gallon at the pump, like some places in California are seeing?

"We're not looking at anything like that," said Tom Kloza of the Oil Price Information Service in Lakewood.

He said it would take a world event or massive event in the United States to create that kind of massive increase in New Jersey.

Kloza said the high prices in California are only catching the media's attention in what he called "the more tawny neighborhoods" like Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

In his opinion, we are actually a lot closer to the price top for this year, which could come in early spring. Kloza said prices are set for their annual, "spring dance," up and down before they settle back for the year.

"I suspect when the year is done, we will pay about what we paid last year for gas. And maybe even a little bit less."

Kloza said in the future, New Jersey will see more and more domestically-refined gasoline made from North Dakota oil shale.
