A Randolph man vacationing with his family died in fatal skiing accident in Colorado on Monday.

John Sherwood, 42, died after colliding with another skier at the Brekenridge ski resort in the early afternoon, the Sheriff's Office in Summit County, Colorado,  said.

The skiers collided under the Peak 8 Super Connect chairlift near tower 25 above the mid-load station, on the expert ski run named Tiger according to the Sheriff's Office.

Sherwood was director of systems development at Prudential Financial in Newark.

"We are very, very heartbroken toward the family and our deepest sympathies go out to them," Prudential Financial  spokesman Peter Price said.

“Breckenridge Ski Resort, Breckenridge Ski Patrol and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest’s family and friends,” Breckenridge Ski Resort Chief Operating OfficerJohn Buhler said.

The Sheriff's Office is looking for witnesses to the incident as part of their investigation.
