USA-1 Driver Holcomb Says Injured Leg Improving

USA-1 driver Steven Holcomb ran a few steps on his injured leg before loading into his bobsled as he prepared for this weekend's Olympic four-man event.

Holcomb, who won bronze in two-man to end a 62-year U.S. medal drought in that event, strained his calf muscle earlier in the Sochi Games. On Thursday, his crew took two practice runs and although the times were slow — 16th place — Holcomb was encouraged that he was able to do some running after only sitting in the sled at the start on Wednesday.

Holcomb has had acupuncture and other treatments and joked that he's been offered other remedies "but most of them are illegal."

Holcomb won the four-man competition at Vancounver in 2010, the first U.S. gold in that event since 1948.
