Steve Trevelise ‘Walks with Angels’ to battle drug addiction
Sunday morning I had the honor of co-chairing the second annual City Of Angels “Walk with The Angels” Walk to raise money for families who fight addiction in New Jersey.
My co-chair was comedian Jimmy “Roundboy” Graham of Pittman New Jersey whose two sons are hooked. Jimmy fight against drug dealers has been well chronicled both on New Jersey 101.5 and in the newspapers.
It was Jimmy’s appearance on my show that started the ball rolling. “After New Jersey 101.5 did the Town Hall, “ says COA founder Kevin Meara, a former Hamilton Township mayor and councilman, “your show came on and just listening to you guys talk and to what Jimmy’s doing, we wanted to give you guys another venue to talk out.”
Hundreds of people showed up to both run and walk. There was music provided by “Nikki Breyer and the Sweet Briar Band” among others as well as vendors selling food and giving out info.
“There’s an epidemic out there” says Meara, “We need to get the word out, Everybody just seems to put their head down and not say anything, but New Jersey 101.5 , you guys had the nerve to stand up and talk.”
We may have talked the talk, but City Of Angels walks the walk and they do it everyday.
