This will be Menendez’s first Twitter Town Hall and it comes at a time when average gas prices in New Jersey are over $3.60 a gallon and diesel fuel is over $4.00. The half-hour Twitter Town Hall will take place on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 3:30 PM EST.

“New Jersey families and businesses are struggling with high gas prices and need relief from pain at the pump and while there’s no silver bullet, there are things we can and must do for short-term relief and long-term stability,” says Menendez who boasts over 16,000 followers on Twitter. “We’re making progress, but we can do more. We can do a better job curbing oil speculation and work to keep American oil here in America. We can grow our renewable, alternative energy sources and work to achieve energy independence.”

To submit a question, Twitter users simply need to tweet their question along with the hashtag #AskMenendez. The Senator says he actively reads his followers comments and feedback.

During the live Twitter Town Hall, Menendez will answer a selection of Tweeted questions and will also participate in a live video-stream on his website.
