Police identified the victim as Brian Weithenauer of Toms River, a student at West Virginia University and graduate of Toms River South.

Weithenauer fell from a ledge while standing on a wooden platform outside an apartment above the Rain Nightclub in Morgantown, according to WDTV TV and WBOY TV.

Police say foul play isn't suspected.

Weithenauer was "a bright student" and "a popular young man in the prime of his life," Becky Lofstead, West Virginia University's vice president of communications, said in a statement. "Truly, this is a sad situation — a tragedy to lose someone so young," Lofstead said. "Our hearts and prayers go out to the Weithenauer family and Brian's many friends."

He was a pre-business student and a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity according to the school, which will provide transportation for his parents to travel to campus.

The university will ring a bell on campus in memory of Weithenauer, its tradition for honoring students who lose their lives.

According to the Rest In Peace Brian Weithenauer Facebook page, Brian's viewing will be on Thursday at Anderson and Campbell in Toms River from 2PM-4PM and from 6PM-9PM. Burial plans are incomplete.
