As the New Year begins, your union comes to an end. According to researchers, January is recognized as the month with the highest divorce rates. Of course it makes financial sense, but is it just another reason to end your marriage?

Princeton psychotherapist specializing in couples, Karyn Bristol emphasizes therapy as a call to action. She said her job is to help couples repair their relationship and stay together, prior to slowly drifting.

"Divorce is a very agonizing decision humans are faced with, especially if they have children," Bristol stated. "Therefore, most people want to celebrate one last holiday together as a family."

While Karyn believes that couples are trying hard to fix their marriage, Elisabeth Mandel, licensed relationship therapist, has quite the different opinion on the subject.

Elisabeth Mandel correlates cold weather to coldness couples sense in relationships. She says that because people look at cold as a sign of resentment, and the partner is not probably protecting the other.
