Signs posted at the facility direct patrons to the front desk, where they can get individual-sized portions of toilet paper and other personal hygiene items prepared by library staffers.

Library Director Kimberly Matthews tells the Times of Trenton that the recently implemented policy came about after a series of incidents that occurred in recent months. She said rolls of toilet paper and other paper products were stolen, whole rolls of toilet paper were flushed down toilets and soap dispensers were ripped off the wall.

Matthews said the library was blowing through its stock of paper products and spending thousands more than it had budgeted.
