Cumberland is expected to have a more prominent role in the offense after setting career highs last year in his third NFL season with 29 catches for 359 yards and three touchdowns.

His playing time increased after Keller, who signed with Miami as a free agent, went down with a sprained left ankle.

The tender, signed Monday by Cumberland, is worth $1.3 million.

"Blessed to continue my NFL career with the (at)nyjets first class organization!" Cumberland wrote on his Twitter page. "BIG year ahead!"

The Jets signed the 25-year-old Cumberland as an undrafted free agent in 2010 out of Illinois.
