June 2nd, 1984Wham! had their first No.1 with ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go Go.’ Written and produced by George Michael. The song was born from a note which Andrew Ridgeley, the other half of Wham!, left for his parents reading “Wake me up up before you go.” The typo on the note inspired the duo to double up the “go”
