The latest gun buyback program in New Jersey - a one day affair in Union County - resulted in 480 handguns, rifles and automatic weapons being turned in to authorities.
Over the past two years, the New Jersey Attorney General's Office has held 10 gun buyback programs, collecting more than 16,000 weapons including assault rifles, machine guns and grenade launchers.
A two-day gun buyback program offering an anonymous means for surrendering weapons at locations in Asbury Park and Rumson brought in 218 guns over the weekend, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor announced.
