As Sandy ripped through the Garden State a year ago, the American Red Cross faced significant challenges as they got set to begin their relief efforts.
The American Red Cross has awarded a $2 million grant to Habitat for Humanity International to repair dozens of New Jersey homes damaged by Superstorm Sandy.
As of January 15th, the American Red Cross raised approximately $249 million for those affected by Superstorm Sandy. At the end of 2012, $110 million had been distributed to the impacted areas.
Many organizations are finding ways to help the people impacted by the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. Some that are lending a hand come from New Jersey.
It's National Hurricane Preparedness Week, and the American Red Cross is reminding folks to prepare now. Hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30.
