exhaustion and uncertainty.

While power is being restored and floodwaters begin to recede, some of the thousands driven from their homes ended up in faraway shelters and don’t know what they’ll have to go back to.

Meanwhile the remnants of Isaac remain a strong storm system that could bring some drought relief to parts of the Midwest, at the expense of holiday weekend plans.

Isaac will move straight through some of the hardest hit states: Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

But for residents of Chesterfield, Mo., it means cancelling their annual fireworks display again. The first time was when drought made Fourth of July fireworks a fire hazard. Organizers decided to try again Labor Day weekend but now rain from the remnants of Isaac has washed things out again.
