Security Breach Closes Newark Airport Checkpoint

Flights have resumed at Newark Liberty International Airport after a security breach closed part of Terminal C for over an hour.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport, says the breach occurred at about 1:15 p.m. at a security checkpoint.

The Transportation Security Administration hasn't said what caused the breach.

A passenger on a Houston-bound flight scheduled to depart at about 2 p.m. says the flight was completing boarding when all passengers had to evacuate and go through security screening again.

Jennifer Pallanich (PAL'-in-itch) says she was able to board her flight by about 3:30.
