Richie Sambora Fired From Bon Jovi Tour?

Richie Sambora can’t quit Bon Jovi’s “Because We Can” tour because he’s been fired.

The website RumorFix.com reports that Sambora, who left the tour last spring during a stop in Calgary for unexplained reasons, has been let go because he makes too much money. Sambora, a Woodbridge native, earns $2million per month while replacement guitarist Philip ‘Phil X’ Xenidis earns $10,000 a month according to the site.

It’s unclear if the “firing” is just from the tour or from the band itself.

“Richie wants to go back on stage — that’s his first love. He’s really upset over the news,” a friend told the site.

It’s not the first time money has been given as a reason that Sambora isn’t back with the band. Just before the band’s concerts at MetLife Stadium in July a report said Jon Bon Jovi wanted to save money to buy an NFL franchise and that the two weren’t talking because Jon wouldn’t take his calls.

Sambora wanted to make his return to the band in front of the home crowd in the Meadowlands but “Jon won’t allow Richie to come back for that show,” said an unnamed source.  “And Jon won’t even pick up the phone and talk to Sambora. Sambora has tried to end this feud but Jon won’t respond.”

Jon has been under fire for canceling a concert at the New York State Fair in favor of a political fundraiser for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

On the other hand, he also drew praise for crossing party lines and donating $1 million to the Governor Christie’s Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund during an appearance in his hometown of Sayreville. The governor and Christie also appeared together when Christie signed New Jersey’s drug overdose law.

The next leg of the Because We Can tour starts September 10 in Mexico City and continues into Chilie, Argentina and Brazil before returning to North America on October 2 in Vancouver.
