Plainfield Teacher Arrested For Relationship With Student
A Plainfield High School teacher has been arrested for a relationship with a student.
Jennalin M. Garcia-Calle was arrested in Davie, Florida by U.S. Marshals after an investigation into a "criminal sexual relationship" with an unidentified Plainfield High School student that began in December. The student told a family member about the relationship.
“What made this particularly ... unusual is that they actually had sex in school, in her classroom,” Union County Prosecutor’s Office and Plainfield Police Division Director Martin Hellwi told MyCentralJersey.com.
He says the relationship is believed to have taken place during times when classes were in session. “Evidently they blocked the windows and locked the door, said Hellwi.
The 29 year old teacher went to a rehab facility in Florida when she learned of the investigation into the relationship according to MyCentralJersey.com.
Garcia-Calle has been charged with 2nd Sexual Assault and 4th Degree Child Abuse and is being held in the Broward County Jail in Florida on $200,000 bail. She is expected to be extradited to New Jersey.
The Plainfield Board of Education placed Garcia-Calle on an administrative suspension pending the outcome of the criminal investigation by the Union County Prosecutor's Office and Plainfield Police.
