The trial was originally expected to begin yesterday, July 9th, but the attorneys for the 29-year-old Keisha Curtis requested the judge in the case for an adjournment for the purpose of additional fact finding. The jury selection process will begin in approximately three weeks.

Patrick was found starved at the bottom of a trash chute but has since made a full recovery. Curtis has denied all charges and has also rejected a plea deal.

Patrick's case became national news for pet lovers and has been the spark for tougher laws against animal abusers.
