A gunman who shot a New York City police detective in Manalapan on Friday night is still at large in what is believed to be a domestic dispute.

Police are still investigating the shooting on Taylors Mills Road of a detective who works for the 60th precinct in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn according to WABC TV.

The unidentified victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for two gunshot wounds and released.

 

The suspect in the case is Robert Dunbar, who remains at large. . Dunbar will be charged with weapon possession, aggravated assault and attempted murder.

Police released few details about the circumstances around the shooting.

Dunbar's brother Danny Dunbar told WNBC TV that his brother was not a dangerous man. "He's not someone that needs a manhunt," Dunbar said. "He's a family man, he's a father. He's a hardworking guy who came home to an unfortunate situation and I'm sure he either had to defend himself or took whatever means he took necessary."
