Middlesex County authorities are probing the death of a man who was fatally shot during a weekend house
party in Sayreville.|

Twenty-year-old Randal Teron Smith of South Amboy was among the dozens of people at the party when shots rang out early Saturday.

Police responding to the shooting found him wounded on the lawn of a neighboring home and he was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

Authorities say it appears that the shooting stemmed from a fight that occurred at the party, but it wasn't clear Sunday what sparked the brawl or whether Smith was involved. They say more than 50 people were in the home at the time, and most fled when the shooting started.

Authorities say no arrests have been made.
