NEWARK — Two Thanksgiving night homicides are under investigation including one involving a car jacking.

Sharie Henry, 40, of Newark, was killed when she was carjacked on the 300 block of South 20th Street around 11 p.m., according to Essex County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly. Henry was taken to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

RLS Metro Breaking News reported Henry was with her young nephew.

Police are looking for Henry's 2005 Kia Sorrento with NJ license plate D71-FYE.

Earlier, Fennelly said police responded to a shooting at the Cozy Corner on South Orange Avenue in Newark's West Ward and found injured city resident Terrance Harris, 46. He was was also taken to University Hospital where he died.

A second person was shot but Fennelly did not disclose their identity.

No arrests have been made in either case.

As of October, the state's largest city had recorded 40 homicides so far this year, less than half than last year during the same months.
