NJ Congressman Runyan Being Outspent in 3rd District Race
Democratic congressional candidate Shelley Adler outraised and outspent Republican Rep. Jon Runyan in recent weeks.
But Federal Election Commission reports filed Thursday show she still lags far behind the first-term incumbent in total cash.
Adler raised $98,993 and spent $85,481 from April 1 to May 16, while Runyan raised $73,583 and spent $50,642 during that same period.
But the Republican has raised $1.16 million so far this election cycle, compared to Adler's $409,920. Runyan ended the reporting period with $758,160 on hand, compared to Adler's $304,186.
Adler is challenging Runyan, a first-term incumbent, in New Jersey's 3rd Congressional District. She's the wife of the late John Adler, who represented the district from 2009-2011.
Runyan is a former professional football player.
