Newark man pleads guilty in string of robberies

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a Newark man has admitted his role in a series of 11 robberies at businesses and other sites in northern New Jersey.

Twenty-three-year-old Christopher Mojica pleaded guilty Monday to robbery, conspiracy and weapons charges. He could face up to life in prison when he's sentenced Dec. 8.

Prosecutors say Mojica and his conspirators robbed the establishments at gunpoint, stealing cash, oxycodone pills, jewelry and other items. The robberies occurred in Newark, Harrison and Jersey City between September 2012 and April 2013.
