A routine traffic stop on the New Jersey Turnpike turned into a drug stop for 4 Atlantic County residents.

New Jersey State Police say they stopped a car in the sounthbound lanes in Carteret for weaving and not staying in a lane.

Troopers smelled marijuana as they approached the car and arrested Ahmad Jones, 27 from  Pleasantville, Brittany Campbell, 25 of Mays Landing and Atlantic City residents Ashley Stevenson, 20, and Abdul Hassan, 33 for possession of heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

A police dog sniffed out 9 ounces of heroin in the trunk which State Police say has a street value of $51,000.

The four were taken to the Middlesex County Jail on $200,000 bail each.
