The FBI says a powder mailed to several locations in New York and New Jersey, including at least five hotels near the site of Sunday's Super Bowl, appears not to be dangerous.The agency says further testing is being conducted on the substance. It says it is "within normal values."

Carlstadt Police Det. John Cleary says someone at an Econo Lodge found the substance in an envelope on Friday. Cleary says similar mailings arrived at the Homestead Inn in East Rutherford and a Renaissance Inn in Rutherford. ABC 7 reports the substance tested as corn starch from the Rutherford location. Another location tested as baking soda.

Message inside each package were similar according to NBC 4 New York.

Cleary says investigators intercepted additional envelopes from a mail truck before it reached a Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn in Carlstadt.

New York City police likewise say preliminary tests show no threat is posed by white powder that's been found in a letter at former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's  Manhattan company.

New Jersey State Police in a statement wrote that "the Joint Terrorism Task Force and hazard materials units have responded to several locations that have received a suspicious letter and substance."

There are no injuries according to the release and all locations are being secured and investigated.

According to ABC 7, the hotels are located in Carlstadt, East Rutherford, Rutherford and Hasbrouck Heights which are all located within 15 minutes of MetLife Stadium, the site of the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Hazardous materials teams are checking out the substance.

Hackensack University Medical Center has received a number of people for evaluation because they came in contact with the letters, but a hospital spokeswoman says there are no reported illnesses or injuries.
