A spokesman for New Jersey Transit tells The Star Ledger that the 23-year-old man was found by police outside a train station in Fanwood with serious injuries, including the loss of an arm.

The victim was found by Transit Police around 9:30 on Wednesday night near the eastbound tracks. He was flown to University Hospital in Newark, where he remained in critical condition Thursday.

Police have not released the man’s name.

NJ Transit officials say it’s unclear how the man was injured, and police are investigating.
