Man Found in Water Near Middletown Beach Dies

Police say a man whose body was found in the water at Ideal Beach in Middletown has died.

Middletown Det. Lt. Stephen Dollinger tells the Asbury Park Press that 46-year-old Charles Henshaw of the Belford section of the township was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police say Henshaw was found in the water shortly before 2 p.m. Emergency responders performed CPR on him while transporting him to a local hospital.

Dollinger says further information was not immediately available on the circumstances of the death.

The official cause will be released following an autopsy.
