BARNEGAT — The 77-year-old man who was found dead inside a car on the Garden State Parkway Saturday worked as security guard at an Ocean County high school for many years.

Richard Baran of Lacey Township was found in a silver Hyundai, just north of Exit 68 for Bay Avenue in Barnegat, New Jersey State Police said. On Sunday, State police spokesman Trooper Alejandro Goez positively identified Baran. Police say the man's death is not suspicious and may have been the result of a medical episode, but the incident remains under investigation.

According to Baran's Facebook page, the Lacey man had worked as a security guard at Southern Regional Middle School since 1995. Before that, pension records show he was an employee of the city of Bayonne until 1994, Barnegat Patch reported.
