"There's this saying. Don't try and fix them. Just love them. I think that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life."

My wife and I have three children, the youngest of whom, Jack, has autism. Jack’s diagnosis when he was a little boy totally changed our lives.

We eventually learned our way around the world of autism, discovering that, while there are similarities among children, ultimately, each case is unique. Our quest to give our son the best life possible has been filled with high hopes and deflating realities. We tried everything we could get our hands on, usually with disappointing results.

At 16, Jack’s life has improved remarkably due to a combination of medical professionals, the Jackson School District (major props to them!) and his family. While he has autism, he is still my son and we love him with all his idiosyncrasies.

There are so many things I couldn't expect, so many things I didn't know when Jack was first classified. Hear about them above.
