An investigative committee announced the subpoena of Michael DuHaime on Wednesday. It is dated Monday and asks only for documents.

His lawyer, Marc Mukasey, says he is concerned that the subpoena is about politics.

DuHaime told a lawyer who compiled a report on behalf of the governor's office that he learned in November or early December of last year from a Port Authority of New York and New Jersey official who called for the lane closures that Christie staffer Bridget Kelly and campaign manager Bill Stepien knew about the September lane closures in advance.

Christie fired Kelly and cut ties with Stepien in January.
