In a move that could send shock waves through the NFL, the New York Jets have agreed to pay almost $324,000 to their cheerleaders to settle a class action lawsuit.

The 52 former and current members of ‘The Flight Squad” during the 2012-13 seasons claimed they were cheated out of pay, ordered to practices without pay, and forced to cover work related expenses like makeup, hair care and transportation.

Granted, being an NFL cheerleader can lead to possible endorsement and appearance opportunities, the actual job of cheerleading should be paid more. The cheerleaders were being paid only $150 per game according to their lawyer, Patricia V. Pierce.

You would think that a league like the NFL, which charges you top dollar to get into that stadium to see them perform, would treat their cheerleaders better. I imagine they'll be doing that now that this settlement has happened.
