NJ police officers go above and beyond on a daily basis. Unfortunately though, many times, those efforts get lost in the shuffle and aren't reported by the media. This is why I started #BlueFriday, to applaud special efforts our NJ police officers that go above and beyond the call of duty.

This week's honoree is Howell Patrolman Robert Hill, who showed compassion in helping to talk a township resident out of committing suicide. After two hours of negotiations, the suicidal man relinquished the gun and surrendered to police.

Arriving upon a scene where an armed man with suicidal tendencies can be difficult for any officer  and the situation could have had a very tragic ending. Due to Patrolman Hill's use of compassion and patience towards the man, this case had the best possible outcome. Not only did Patrolman Hill save the life of a township resident but he also kept other officers, including himself, from possibly being harmed as well.

Listen to my on air discussion about Officer Hill and honoring him for #BlueFriday in the clip below.

Congratulations to Patrolman Robert Hill as he is this week's #BlueFriday honoree.
