Not Finished - The U.S. Prosecutor's Office is cautioning against drawing any conclusions about the status of thier investigation. Last week, there was an NBC report that said federal investigators had no direct link to Governor Christie and the order for lane closures that erupted into Bridgegate. On Ask the Governor, Christie said he was not surprised. But the Wall Street Journal reports this morning that the U.S. Attorney's office says the investigatiuon is very much ongoing and there are still more witnesses, some very close to the governor, that still need to be interviewed.

Student Death - The Rutgers campus is mourning the death of a sophomore who was rushed to the hospital during a frat party this weekend in New Brunswick. 19-year old Caitlyn Kovacs had been drinking and her friends found her in distress. She died at the hospital. Police say the death appears to be alcohol related.

 

Local Summer - While the beaches might be done for the year businesses at the shore are still looking forward to a healthy shoulder season...

Search for a Cop Killer - Authorities in Pennsylvania are still looking for a survivalist accused of shooting to death a state trooper and wounding another. But police say they've found the AK-47 style assault rifle that 31-year-old Eric Frein was carrying. Police believe they're hot on the trial of frein as he travels on foot through northeastern Pennsylvania's heavy forests where he grew up. But there's been no sight of him since the Sept. 12 ambush.

Hiding Colors - It used to be if you were a member of the bloods gang in New Jersey you wore red, the Latin Kings colors were black and gold the Crips were decked out in blue clothing and hats. But that's no longer the case.

Court Appearance - An Army veteran accused of scaling a security fence and getting into the White House with a knife is scheduled to have his initial appearance in federal court later today. Meanwhile, Friday's incident has the Secret Service discussing setting up security screening checkpoints near public areas around the White House.

Father, Son Die in Accident  - A car accident in Central Jersey leaves a father and his young son dead in Franklin Township. The man was driving his SUV on Westin Canal Road when it jumped the guardrail and ended up in the canal. The man's wife was able to escape but the man and his 7-year-old son were dead at the scene.

Mall Fall - A scary time at a North Jersey mall when glass from a balcony fell about 30-feet and shattered on the floor below. Two boys and a man escaped serious injury. It's still not clear what caused the accident at the Outlets Town Center in Paramus.

Lasting Solutions - Last week we first reported on the 21-bill package tackling New Jersey's heroin and prescription drug abuse epidemic. One piece of legislation would create a drug abuse task force with a very unique focus.

Sleeping Pill Cap - The FDA wants new curbs on yet-another popularly-prescribed sleep medication because of concerns that adults may still be driving drowsy the next day.

Peeping Tom Probation - There will be no jail time for a custodian who videotaped students and teachers with hidden cameras in a South Jersey high school. Instead, John Martin will serve 120-days of house arrest and five years probation, in addition to registering as a sex offender. The 43-year old admits placing cameras in eight rooms that were often used as changing areas.

The Cost of Missing Class - This may not come as a surprise, but chronic absence can leave students a year behind their peers academically. That's according to a new report by attendance works....

Inspiring Terrorism - Anti-terror officials are increasingly concerned that online anti-American propaganda attributed to Islamic State could inspire homegrown terrorists in the United States. The latest edition of a slick digital magazine linked to the group taunts President Barack Obama. It also roots for the complete collapse of what it calls the modern American empire.

Teen Killed -Gun fire in Paterson claims the life of a 14-year old girl. Another girl was wounded. This was just a short ways away from where an 18-year old was shot earlier. It's not clear if it was related. No arrests hat yet been made.

 

Sentenced for Abuse- A South Jersey man will spend a year in jail for beating his dog to death. 51-year old Steve Geisel admitted he beat the 2-year old female Pitbull in the woods near his home but has never said why.

Paying for Road Repairs- The Transportation Trust Fund is almost broke which means there will soon be no money to fix the state's decaying roads and dilapidated bridges. Wednesday at Montclair State University the Assembly Transportation Panel will hold the first in a series of public hearings on how to replenish the fund...

Eliminating the "Acting" Governor - When the governor of New Jersey travels out of state the Lt. Governor automatically becomes "acting governor." Governor Christie thinks this is ridiculous and he's suggesting the legislature change the law…
