Gun Buyback Nets Nearly 300 Weapons in Paterson
Another gun buyback program in northern New Jersey has produced another bumper crop of firearms.
The Passaic County Sheriff’s office says it spent more than $20,000 to buy 282 guns from Paterson residents during last week’s event, which was staged at a city church. Details were announced at a news conference Monday.
Officials say the guns they bought included hunting rifles, BB guns, handguns and even a World War II era Lugar 9mm pistol.
Authorities say all the weapons obtained through the program will be destroyed.
