The state health department still wont say where dozens of people live who are being monitored for Ebola in New Jersey.  But Trenton's city health director confirms some of them are in the capitol city.  Trenton has a substantial population of West African transplants.  None of the 100-or so people being monitored around the state are considered high risk. Meanwhile, experts studying the spread of Ebola say we should expect more cases in the U.S. by the end of the year.  Computer models forecast up to 130 infections.  To date, nine Ebola patients have been treated in the U.S. and one has died.

Should health workers who treat Ebola patients be quarantined when they come back from helping in West Africa?  71-percent of Americans say yes in a Wall Street Journal poll.

The nurse who was briefly quarantined in New Jersey after coming back from West Africa remains free this morning in her home state of Maine.  Kaci Hickox won a court order blocking her quarantine but says she will not go into town or anywhere large numbers of people gather until the 21-day incubation period is over.

A terminally-ill Oregon woman who revived a national debate about physician-assisted suicide ended her life Saturday by swallowing lethal drugs made available under Oregon's death with dignity law. Brittany Maynard, who suffered from brain cancer, would have turned 30 on Nov. 19. Maynard and her husband had moved to Portland, Oregon from northern California so that she could take advantage of the Oregon law.

A brutal gas station robbery has left an attendant hospitalized...after he was beaten and stabbed on route 9 in Howell.  Two men fled the scene with cash, after attacking the attendant who was working alone at the time....

If you don't feel safe visiting New Jersey's major cities you are certainly not alone. Today's FDU-public mind poll shows the overwhelming majority of Garden Staters think danger is lurking around the corner if they visit Atlantic City, Newark, Trenton or Camden.

Another youth football season is cancelled. This time due to poor sportsmanship.  In Mount Olive, the Junior Marauder's were tied for first place and headed for the playoffs.  But league officials cancelled the rest of the season. Mostly due to incidents involving players and coaches off the field.

 

A couple of missing teens from North Plainfield have been found safe and sleeping in a park in Philly.  15-year old Isaiah Pompey and his 16-year old girlfriend didn’t show up for school last Monday.  The boy and his mother had a fight and he ran away.

A 26-year old New Jersey woman is suing a New York city hotel and a Belgian tourist claiming she was stabbed by a high heeled shoe.  She wants five million dollars after saying she was kicked in the thigh...and the heel went so deep it required hospitalization.  She was on the rooftop bar at the Gansevoort hotel when it happened.

How closely are you looking at your cell phone bill? In some states, miscellaneous taxes and fees make up as much as 25 percent. It's not as bad in Jersey, but still a big number.

 

Here's a newsflash there's an election tomorrow! Many jersey residents aren't even aware of this, and apparently, most could care less.

Virgin Atlantic's experimental spaceship broke apart in flight over California's Mojave desert after a device to slow the craft's descent prematurely deployed. The national transportation safety board says while no cause for Friday's crash has been determined, investigators found the "feathering" system was activated before the craft reached the appropriate speed. The co-pilot was killed. The pilot parachuted to the ground and is hospitalized.

A bill in the hopper in Trenton would impose a tax on lottery winnings in new jersey. The senator sponsoring the measure doesn't see it as a tax and he defends the bill by saying the money raised would go to help the children.

 

In many cases, it's preventable.  Still, diabetes is a growing problem in New Jersey.

 

Thousands of casino job losses have pushed Atlantic County's jobless rate to almost 11-percent and the region now has among the highest unemployment anywhere in the country.

With the future of the Taj Mahal bleak, at best, workers will march to the mayor's office in Atlantic city today to ask don guardian to reconsider offering tax breaks to keep the casino open.  The mayor has said the city can’t afford it, given AC's severe budget problems.

When you're interested in a home, you probably look at factors like the local crime rate and the quality of schools. But what about the presence of environmental hazards? A new housing report suggests that's not a top priority for home buyers but maybe it should be.
