Gary U.S. Bonds, probably best known for his hit "Quarter to Three," was kind enough to let me interview him on air last night. Bonds looked back on when his classic song was sweeping the nation and how great his time in the spotlight has been. There are some songs that never die, and I truly believe that "Quarter to Three" is one of them.

For those who may not know this, our very own Bruce Springsteen has been known to use Bonds' song as an encore in his show. Bonds shared a memory from a show in Hazlet, NJ, where he brought Springsteen on stage to sing with him before he even knew who Bruce was. Imagine his surprise when the crowd went nuts for Bruce! Listen to Bonds tell the story in the clip above.

Bonds will be performing with Bobby Rydell, Lou Christie, and Darlene Love, whom Bonds described as a "powerhouse," as a part of the Golden Oldies show at the State Theatre on May 1st.
