FRANKLIN (Somerset) — A missing Newark school principal from Somerset County was located Friday in Philadelphia.

Acting Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Chief Lawrence W. Robert said Bertha Dyer, 68, was found safe but offered no details on how she was located or how she wound up there.

Dyer is the principal at the Mt. Vernon Elementary School in Newark and had last been seen on Aug. 30 after missing several meetings at the school.

News 12 New Jersey reported Dyer was found at Nazareth Hospital.

“I would like to thank all of the agencies involved for their tireless efforts in this case. I am thankful that Ms. Dyer was found safely and reunited with her family," Robertson said.
