I honestly never thought about this until I read this blog post about it, but does it bother you if other people post pictures of your child online? Apparently it bothers a good number of people, although I’m not totally clear on what the harm is.

The KSL article quotes the Pew Research Center saying that 57% of Facebook users object to someone posting a picture of their minor child without permission. I believe that the only time I have posted pictures of other people’s children has been of youth sporting events, but I posted those pictures to my Flickr account (which is set to “public”) for their parents to download.

As far as my kids are concerned, I can’t think of a time someone posted pictures that upset me. Maybe it's because my children are older-ish, but I don’t think it would bother me, provided the photos weren’t embarrassing. I assume the photo would have been take somewhere in public, so there’s no expectation of privacy.

How about you? Would it bother you if someone posted a picture of you child on Facebook without your permission?
