Hermann’s recent comments wishing death upon the Star-Ledger the same day the paper announced a reorganization and almost 200 layoffs were the last straw for the Democrat. “There’s been hardly a moment without controversy,” wrote Codey┬áin a letter to Rutgers president Dr. Robert Barchi as a reason she should be be let go.

Allegations of verbal abuse against volleyball players on the team she coached at the University of Tennessee and a lawsuit claiming an assistant was fired because she was pregnant were not enough to stop Hermann from being named athletic director at Rutgers.

Hermann also had to deal with a claim by football player Jevon Tyree that he was bullied by defensive coordinator Dave Cohen and her reaction to the allegation.

A Rutgers spokesperson tells the Star-Ledger that Barchi is out-of-state and has not read the letter.
