Codey Calls for Rutgers AD Hermann to be Fired
If State Senator Richard Codey could have his way, Rutgers University would be looking for another athletic director.
Hermann's recent comments wishing death upon the Star-Ledger the same day the paper announced a reorganization and almost 200 layoffs were the last straw for the Democrat. "There's been hardly a moment without controversy," wrote Codey in a letter to Rutgers president Dr. Robert Barchi as a reason she should be be let go.
Allegations of verbal abuse against volleyball players on the team she coached at the University of Tennessee and a lawsuit claiming an assistant was fired because she was pregnant were not enough to stop Hermann from being named athletic director at Rutgers.
Hermann also had to deal with a claim by football player Jevon Tyree that he was bullied by defensive coordinator Dave Cohen and her reaction to the allegation.
A Rutgers spokesperson tells the Star-Ledger that Barchi is out-of-state and has not read the letter.
