I'm not a big fan of celebrities getting involved in politics and social issues. For example, last night Piers Morgan had Nick Cannon as a guest discussing the Zimmerman verdict. Of course they also had to discuss Nick Cannon's stupid fashion line. I really don't give a crap what some rapper/actor who appeared in 'Drumline' and is married to Mariah Carey has to say about anything. It was an embarrassment for Piers Morgan.

As much as I love Bruce Springsteen as an artist, I often disagree with his politics. His first show after the Zimmerman verdict came in was last night in Limerick, Ireland. Many fans suspected he would play 'American Skin (41 Shots)'. and they were right.

"I want to send this one out as a letter back home. For justice for Trayvon Martin."

The song was written after the fatal police shooting of Amadou Diallo in New York City in 1999 who fired 41 shots against an unarmed man. Very different circumstances as Amadou Diallo was not physically assaulting anyone. And to sing that "you can get killed just for living in your American skin" implies Trayvon Martin was shot not for committing an MMA style ground and pound but simply for being black which is, of course, ridiculous.

Do you think Bruce Springsteen was right in dedicating this song to Trayvon Martin? Take our poll and share your thoughts in the comment section below.
