WASHINGTON D.C. – New Jersey Senator Cory Booker is not interested in running for president in 2020.

Speaking to CNN reporter Brooke Baldwin during Saturday’s Women’s March on Washington, Booker said his focus will be on keeping the Trump Administration in check.

Booker said that Donald Trump is president, and that people need to get fight, resist and wake up if they object to his policies, not get caught up in “sedentary agitation” which he defined as people being upset but not doing anything about it.

“Too many things can happen that can hurt people in our nation and around the globe if this President isn’t checked. Right now, I don’t care about 2020. I don’t care about 2018,” Booker said, adding that he was already working on legislation to “fight this president” because the things he has said he intends to do are “dangerous.”

“I am not open to being president. I don’t even want to have the discussion right now because I think that’s an attempt to distract people from the work we have to do right now,” Booker said.

New Jersey’s junior senator was under consideration as a running mate with Hillary Clinton in the most recent presidential election.

Booker during the week said he would vote against Rex Tillerson’s nomination as Secretary of State. “America is a beacon of democracy and hope to the world. I do not believe that Mr. Tillerson is the right choice to ensure that this legacy continues. ‎For these and other reasons, I will oppose his confirmation,” Booker said in a statement.
