Body found in Hackensack River, reports say

Authorities continue to investigate a body that was found on the shore of the Hackensack River Sunday, according to published reports.

A golfer at the nearby Skyway Golf Course discovered the body, which appeared to be stuck in the mud near the river in Lincoln Park, NJ Advance Media has reported.

Homocide investigators from the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office were on the scene, which is protocol in such situations, the article states. The Prosecutor's Office spokesman could not be immediately reached Sunday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing and it is not yet known if the body is male or female or how the person ended up in the water.
